Bundesquantenallianz founded

Today, the Bundesquantenallianz (Federal Quantum Alliance) was founded, an association of initially two federally owned companies that will exploit the potential of quantum technologies (quantum computing, quantum sensing) and also develop measures to protect against quantum-based attacks on IT and OT (PQC, QKD).

DB Systel GmbH and Bundesdruckerei GmbH are thus giving the start signal for a think tank, in which the technology experts of the participating organizations will develop solid and neutral assessments of quantum technologies as a future topic in order to make recommendations for federal companies and authorities.

The motivation for the Federal Quantum Alliance lies in several topic areas: Joint experience with the technology in application projects will leverage synergies for all participating companies. This allows to build the necessary experience at an early stage. The Alliance can participate in the definition of standards for overarching solutions. Being responsible for critical infrastructures in Germany leads to additional requirements.

This think tank forms a knowledge platform on which know-how is built and shared. Experience from memberships in related networks complements this, creating a further building block in the ecosystem for quantum technologies in Germany.

Federal companies are in a special position, as they combine the demands placed on industrial companies in terms of profitability and speed of change with political and public service requirements.

The Federal Quantum Alliance is open to other federal companies that want to build up their own expertise and are able and willing to make a contribution.
